Brad Paisley, Kirsty Lee Akers & More Join Monday’s KIX Live!

On Monday, September 19 at 7pm, KIX Live will feature performances from Kirsty Lee Akers with Amber Lawrence and Ashleigh Dallas, Canadian trio Petric, Taylor Moss and Bella Mackenzie, plus Justin will chat to Brad Paisley and announce the week's 'Centre Stage' artist.

Brad Paisley

Brad Paisley is a global country music superstar who has earned his place in country music history as one of the genre’s most talented and decorated artists. Over the past 21 years, his songwriting and unmatched showmanship have won him numerous awards, including three GRAMMYs, two American Music Awards, 14 Country Music Association Awards and 15 Academy of Country Music Awards among many others.

A member of the Grand Ole Opry since 2001, Brad has written 21 of his 24 number one hits, has amassed over 4.6 billion career streams and in 2008 became the first artist to achieve 10 consecutive Billboard Country Airplay number one singles. His 2017 album, Love and War, which features collaborations with the likes of Mick Jagger, John Fogerty and Timbaland, debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart.

As well as headlining CMC Rocks QLD alongside Kane Brown and Morgan Evans, Brad will commence his first ever Australian tour in 2022. Playing a string of shows with Morgan and Mackenzie Porter in Brisbane (Sep. 26), Melbourne (Sep. 29) and Sydney (Oct. 5), Brad is also slated for Savannah in the Round and the Deni Ute Muster. Brad will also head to New Zealand for the first time, playing in Auckland’s Spark Arena (Oct. 8) with special guest Kaylee Bell.

Kirsty Lee Akers

Proud of her Indigenous heritage as a woman of the Wonnarua people (Hunter Valley), Kirsty Lee Akers was born in the small town of Kurri Kurri, NSW. She first performed in public at three-years-old and recorded her first EP at 16. Kirsty is the only artist in history to have won three of the major prizes in Australian country music – Telstra Road To Discover (2006), Toyota Star Maker (2007) and a Golden Guitar Award (2008).

The CMAA Academy of Country Music (2004 and 2005) graduate had success with her albums Little Things (2007), Better Days (2009), Naked (2011) and Burn Baby Burn (2016), and, in 2018, she released her fifth album, Under My Skin – her most successful album to date.

Last year, Kirsty took home her second Golden Guitar Award for her ‘Vocal Collaboration of the Year’ rendition of John Williamson’s True Blue with Amber Lawrence, Aleyce Simmonds and Dianna Corcoran. She also formed her own record label, Rider Records, and competed on season 17: Fans v Faves of the Logie award-winning renovation reality series, The Block with husband Jesse Anderson.

Her current single, Let The Girls Sing featuring Amber Lawrence and Ashleigh Dallas was co-written by Kirsty, Phil Barton and Bruce Wallace on a writing trip to Nashville in 2015, during the height of the Tomato-gate controversy – which originated when radio consultant Keith Hill advocated that stations not play songs by women artists back-to-back and drew an analogy with the composition of a salad, with male artists as the lettuce, and female artists as the tomato garnish – sparking broad outcry on social media and from the industry.

Petric

Like many teenagers who have a dream of one day getting up on stage and playing their music, brothers Jason (guitarist) and Tom Petric (lead vocals), along with their long-time friend Jordan Day (backing vocals) have always had a fire burning inside to entertain audiences and push themselves to newer and greater levels. Hailing from Transcona, Manitoba, Petric have been fulfilling this dream and making new fans everywhere they go.

Formed back in 2014, Petric have since racked up over 15 million worldwide online streams, multiple chart-topping hit singles on Canadian country music radio, including three top 20 hits, and have won a handful of awards. They have taken their music from the small stages of hometown bars to the most prestigious festivals and venues across Canada, including the Calgary Stampede, Cavendish Beach Music Festival, Country Thunder and more.

Their album Flashbacks, alone, has more than 3 million online streams and has opened up doors to multiple international markets, including earning the band their first top 35 single in Australia with White Lyin’ – which we premiered here. 

Taylor Moss

Taylor Moss got her break winning the Urban Country Music Festival talent quest in 2012 and released her debut single Stuck In My Head that same year. She was later named a finalist in the 2015 Toyota Star Maker competition at the Tamworth Country Music Festival. Supports with Jimmy Barnes followed along with further shows at Tamworth and Gympie Music Muster. Taylor has also been travelling to Nashville since she was 18.

She has gone from strength to strength, securing over 2 million combined streams over the last year and receiving rave reviews for her live shows. Her signature song Ain’t No Girly Girl is still receiving multiple streams 18 months after release and has just ticked over 2.5 million Spotify streams. Her previous singles You Ain’t Getting A Song and Chaser are still favourites too.

Her singles, Get It Girl and What Am I Gonna Do? both reached the top ten on the Countrytown Hot 50 Country Airplay Chart, with Get It Girl reaching #1 and What Am I Gonna Do? peaking at #6. Get It Girl also secured Taylor’s position at #5 on Australia’s mid-year airplay chart. Her current single, Both, currently sits at #8 on the Countrytown Hot 50 and previously peaked at #3.

Bella Mackenzie

Growing up in Central Queensland, Bella Mackenzie lived on-site at her family’s hotel motel in the coal mining town of Moranbah, Queensland and was surrounded by live music every week. The emerging singer-songwriter taught herself guitar by watching video tutorials on YouTube and entered her first country music talent competition at the age of 12, shortly writing her first song.

As a child, her parents were heavy into the country music scene, although Bella favoured artists like Katy Perry and other pop artists. It wasn’t until her first Lee Kernaghan concert in Mackay at 12-year-sold that she fell in love with country music, its crowds and atmosphere of the live shows. The CMAA Academy of Music graduate now cites Carly Pearce, Maren Morris, Chris Stapleton and Cody Johnson as some of her biggest country music influences today.

Bella released her debut single, Dance In The Rain, in May 2020. The singles Ain’t For You (April 2021), Make Me Wanna Love You (November 2021) and Miss You No More (May 2022) followed. Her current single, 1,2,3 You and Me was produced by multi–Golden Guitar winner Rod McCormack, and co-written with Bryce Sainty.
