Post Malone has confirmed that he will release a country album just weeks after his debut performance at the CMA Awards, in which he took to the stage with stars of the genre, Morgan Wallen and HARDY.

“Country record is coming,” the Chemical singer and rapper said in a Twitch livestream as fans asked him if he’d dip into country music. “I keep singing a song that we made while I was in Nashville, and it's so fucking sick, but it's not out.”

Revealing that he’s been in the studio working on two different albums – whether or not they’re both country-related is unsure – Post Malone continued, “We made such sick music down in Nashville. It was so much, so much fun.” On his collaboration with HARDY, he added, “HARDY is amazing. He is such a sweetheart. I had the most fun time ever.”

In addition to his forthcoming country album, Post Malone already features on the HARDY track Pick-Up Man, a tribute to the late Joe Diffie. The track appears on the HARDY’s March 2024 mixtape, Hixtape Vol. 3: Difftape.

Post Malone has also shared a recent image of himself with HARDY and Morgan Wallen at the CMA Awards, while country star Brad Paisley indicated that he was in the studio with Post Malone two weeks ago. He captioned the image, “People at the Nashville Post Office are absolutely crazy.”

Post Malone isn’t the only unlikely star stretching into country music. Earlier this year, music producer and DJ Diplo performed a country music-inspired set at Stagecoach festival and released his latest album, Thomas Wesley: Chapter 2 - Swamp Savant, which led to Diplo going back to his roots and learning to play the guitar.

Tonight, Post Malone begins his Australian tour in Brisbane before his headline dates at Spilt Milk festival.

In January and February, Post Malone opened for Red Hot Chili Peppers in Australia. The Music praised his “warm vocal delivery, hot dance moves and worn AC/DC t-shirt” and added, “Confidence personified, Postie struts around the stage, striking flamboyant poses and getting up close to ecstatic fans in the front row.”

Post Malone is currently promoting his fifth album, Austin.
