James Johnston Recruits Kaylee Bell For First Duet Release
'Same Songs' is due for release on July 15.

Despite his Country Boys single knocking Keith off the top of the Countrytown Hot 50 Country Airplay Chart, there seems no love lost between James Johnston and Kaylee Bell who are gearing up for the release of their collaboration single, Same Songs.
Although Bell has teamed with the likes of Australian sister trio The McClymonts and US country artists, Josh Mirenda and Lindsay Ell on recent releases, Same Songs is Johnston’s first ever duet.
“We’re all singing to the same songs,” Johnston sings in the chorus. “Cause they’re the ones that we grew up on. They take us back to where we came from.”
On June 22, to help personalise the song, Johnston asked fans on social media to name some of their favourite singalong songs and artists that he could incorporate into the lyrics.
After sharing the chorus once again, he said, “So that’s it, but this is where you come in. I want to write the verses referencing some of our favourite songs that we grew up on that just take us back to some of the best times of our life... I’m gonna bring you along for the journey and we’re gonna write it together. I’m so excited for this. This is gonna be fun!”
He later asked who he should duet with, and the overwhelming answer was Bell, who joined him in another sneak peek of the song in one of his recent Facebook videos. The song makes references to Dolly Parton, Zac Brown Band, Little Big Town, Darius Rucker and more.

Fans who pre-save the single, go in the running to win a house concert with Johnston and Bell for you and 20 friends. The competition is open worldwide. Entries close on Thursday, July 14 at 11.59pm AEST with the winners notified on Monday, July 18 at 8.30AM AEST.
Due for release on July 15, Same Songs will be Johnston’s fourth radio release. It follows his hit debut Raised Like That, Small Town and Country Boys. All three peaked at #1 on the Countrytown Hot 50 Chart. Notably, Small Town held the #1 spot for 10 weeks. Raised Like That also became the fastest single by an Australian based country artist to hit 1 million streams.
