Luke Combs has melted the hearts of parents across the globe with his latest Instagram video, sharing a poignant (and unreleased) song called Plant A Seed. The track is about fatherhood and was written by Wyatt McCubbin alongside Rob Snyder and Jeff Hyde.

Singing and playing an acoustic guitar in his living room, Combs offers the most normal backdrop of a famous artist you can imagine: the dog was climbing on the sofa, a baby was cooing, and his wife, Nicole, was in the shower as Combs sang.

An effortlessly moving tune, the Love You Anyway singer apologised for all the “dad” songs, but if he continues to release dad songs like this one, we hope he doesn’t stop.

Combs wrote in the caption, “Got sent this song a while back from Wyatt McCubbin that he wrote with Rob Snyder and Jeff Hyde. Last night it was in my head and I couldn’t sleep so I got up and messed around with it for a few hours. Been singing it to myself all morning and as I watched the boys while Nicole got a shower in, I recorded this.

“Hope y’all like it and sorry for all the dad songs but that’s where I’m at these days and I couldn’t be happier about it. A lot more songs to come soon.”

In August 2023, Nicole and Luke Combs welcomed their second baby boy, Beau Lee.

Sharing the news on social media, Nicole wrote, “8.15.2023 - Beau Lee Combs. Welcome to the world. We couldn’t love you more”. Luke Combs was in Sydney at the time Beau was born.

The caption sits alongside a video containing a Polaroid photo of baby Beau’s feet, a mini beanie, and a pacifier over some bed sheets. The reel was soundtracked by These Are The Days by Cody Asbury.

Beau is the little brother to one-year-old Tex, born on 19 June, 2022.

Luke Combs was in Australia with a run of sold-out performances across the country last year. His first Brisbane show (a doubleheader, same in Melbourne and Sydney) at the Entertainment Centre arrived with a gender reveal, in which the singer was handed a balloon to announce a gender reveal for the first time.

“I’ve never done a balloon one before…I don’t know how the hell I’m gonna pop this thing,” he said. “What do we think – boy or girl? What do you want it to be? You’d be happy with either, right?” Combs asked before popping the balloon with his teeth. Was it a girl or a boy? You can find out here.

Countrytown headed over to that first Brisbane show – also the first concert on Combs’ Australian tour – and called the show “magic”. You can check out our review here.
