The Weeping Willows, Wesley Dean, Brad Butcher and Kristy Cox may soon be GRAMMY nominated artists, as they are just some of the artists selected in the first round of nominations for the 2023 awards.

The Weeping Willows shared the exciting news on social media, “Four words we never thought we'd type... For your GRAMMY consideration: ‘Best Folk Album’ – The Weeping Willows for You Reap What You Sow! We know it's not going to go any further, but we're blown away our little independent, self-produced, self-funded album made it this far! So grateful. With thanks to everyone who believed in us and of course our incredible engineers, co-writers and musicians.”

Dean, who is considered for ‘Best Americana Album’ for unknown, captioned, “So honoured to be considered for a Grammy! Thanks to everyone for the continued support and to the people who downloaded, streamed came to a show and bought the record! I’m just getting started.”

Butcher’s Lay Your Head with Brielle Brown is considered for ‘Best Americana Performance’ and ‘Best American Roots Song.’

“This kind of sunk in for me this morning and I can’t tell you how proud I am to get through to this point. No labels. No funding. Just hard work and never giving up… even though plenty of times I could have easily walked away,” Butcher wrote. “No, I’m not nominated for a Grammy, and the reality is I’m probably not going to be either. I am, however, supremely grateful for the efforts made by those who believe in me and my music. That is priceless.”

Cox, however, is considered for numerous awards including ‘Best American Roots Performance’ and ‘Best American Roots Song’ for Appalachian Blue and Person of the Year, ‘Best Bluegrass Album’ for Shades Of Blue and ‘Best Gospel Performance/Song’ for An Old Abandoned Church.

The GRAMMY Awards is most prestigious honour and the only peer-recognized award in music representing the full recognition and respect that comes from within the global family of music people. The first round of voting for the 65th GRAMMY nominations closes on October 23. Nominations are announced on November 15, with the telecast scheduled for February 5, 2023.

For Your Consideration is common practice, with the objective to remind voting members of the great release already submitted to be considered for a GRAMMY nomination.
