Tori Forsyth Releases New Single 'Sometimes' Featuring Shane Nicholson

Sunshine Coast artist and Countrytown favourite Tori Forsyth has released a beautiful new single with artist and friend Shane Nicholson (Kasey Chambers, Paul Kelly) today.

Sometimes finds Forsyth and Nicholson sharing vocal duties, with her wilting warble complimenting Nicholson’s harmonising vocals. Nicholson allows Forsyth to hold the spotlight – the gorgeous song from the young singer uplifted by its collaborative spirit.

Sometimes is performed by Forsyth and Nicholson on vocals and her full band, including drummer Reece Baines, guitarist Matthew Newton, bassist Zachary Miller, and the Mak brothers, Thom (guitar) and Andy (keys). The contemplative, almost bittersweetly sad track was produced by Scott Horscroft (Charlie Collins, Brooke & Adam Eckersley).

Forsyth said about the single, “Sometimes is a breakup song. The only one on the record, the only one I have ever written, the only one I intend to write. Plain and simple, sometimes, out of nowhere, your heart gets broken. But you pick up the pieces and move on, and sometimes, most of the time, something beautiful is on the other side.”

Sometimes is Forsyth’s first new song in two years and signals the beginning of a new era following the release of her 2021 second album, Provlépseis.

On Provlépseis, Forsyth found inspiration in Greek explorations of mythology and channelled her diverse influences, including Miley Cyrus, Stevie Nicks, The Cranberries, Nirvana, and The Pretty Reckless, amongst others.

“Provlépseis means predictions in Greek,” she said in a press release. “Most of the new album was recorded pre-pandemic, and it’s interesting to interpret the lyrics with the benefit of hindsight; where I might not have really known what a few songs meant at the time, I definitely do now… I’m a pretty spiritual person, but I think that just goes to show how important it is to listen to your intuition.”

Since being crowned Countrytown’s Artist Of The Week and scoring our Song Of The Day with All For You, Forsyth has toured across the country and played numerous festivals, including at Groundwater Music Festival next month.
