‘No Plans’ For 2024 Edition Of NQ’s Rock’n Country

Struggling Mackay, Queensland music festival NQ’s Rock’n Country has shared more bad news, already revealing that the 2024 edition of the event – due to take place in August – won’t be going ahead.

Last July, just a few weeks before the festival, organisers requested their supporters buy just 1,000 more tickets for the event to go ahead viably. In addition to pleading with fans and potential attendees about the dire situation, organisers also launched a GoFundMe fundraising campaign for those who couldn’t attend the event but might want to show support.

The event went ahead – albeit not as expected – as a shortened edition, down to a two-day event from a three-day festival.

After supporters rallied to ensure the festival would go ahead no matter what, NQ’s Rock’n Country rewarded the local community with a free event.

“We have received incredible support from ticket holders and local businesses, so we are happy to announce that we are able to PROCEED,” the organisers said in a statement after revealing the event was still on.

Morgan Evans headlined last year’s NQ Rock’n Country festival, which also featured Kasey Chambers, Kaylee Bell, Shannon Noll, The Wolfe Brothers, Adam Brand, and many more.

It also hosted the Reboot competition, with Australian Idol contestant Denvah as well as Jay Santilli and Findlay Webb named as finalists.

While NQ’s Rock’n Country went ahead despite the hardships last year, 2024 is already off the table.

“Unfortunately, at this time with no further support from the government we regret to share that there are no plans for a festival in 2024,” NQ’s Rock’n Country organisers wrote on Facebook yesterday (13 March).

“We would like to sincerely thank all those who have supported us over the past few years. From local business sponsors to ticket holders, vendors, artists and management teams, we have enjoyed working with you all and wouldn’t have been able to do it without you all”.

At the end of their statement, organisers assured supporters that this isn’t the end for NQ’s Rock’n Country and that punters will be updated as things progress.

Hopefully, the festival comes into some government funding and can host another delightful event for the Mackay community.
