Morgan Wallen has turned to social media to share a health update following the last minute cancellation of his Mississippi show on April 23.

Taking to Instagram Stories that night, Wallen explained that his voice was “shot”, and the show wouldn’t go ahead.

“After last night’s show I started losing my voice, so I spent the day resting up, talking to my doctor and working through my vocal exercises trying to get better.  I really thought I’d be able to take the stage and it kills me to deliver this so close to showtime, but my voice is shot, and I am unable to sing,” Wallen wrote in his Stories. “All tickets will be refunded at point of purchase. I am so sorry. I promise you guys I tried everything I could.”

While Wallen, the headliner, couldn’t perform his set, support acts HARDY, Ernest and Nate Smith performed their sets at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. A further three shows were postponed.

Taking to social media to share an update, he also apologised to fans for the abrupt cancellation.

“What’s up everybody, I just wanted to let you know that I am in Jacksonville. We are going to play a show tonight,” Wallen said in a video message to fans. “I wouldn’t say I’m 100%, but I’m doing a lot better and to everyone in Oxford, I just wanted to reiterate how sorry I am for the way that went down.”

“I thought I was going to be good to go and I just wasn’t. So, we are working on a rescheduled date. We are close to a rescheduled date, I just don’t have the exact one yet. So as soon as I do, I’ll let you know,” Wallen continued. “I appreciate y’all. Can’t wait to get back on stage tonight. Love y’all. Thank you for all the support, always. God bless you. See you soon.”

Wallen will return to the stage in Florida with ERNEST and Bailey Zimmerman, with shows on May 4 (VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville), May 5 (iTHINK Financial Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach) and May 6 (MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa).
