Speaking to The Highway during a CMA Fest event, Wilson announced she received a call directly from creator Taylor Sheridan saying he had created the new role specifically for her.

“This is the first time I’ve said it out loud. This is my first interview since we announced, this is my first time I’m sayin’ it, I’m gonna be a co-star on season five [of] Yellowstone,” she said. “She’s gonna be a musician and so I get to play my songs too, it’s perfect.”

She added, “Taylor Sheridan, the writer and producer of the show, called me back in February and was like, ‘I’m creating a character specifically for you.’ And I’m like, ‘Thank you God and thank you Taylor Sheridan.’ It’s a blessing.

Since its 2018 debut, Yellowstone has not only become a hit television show but also a trend-setting platform for country music. Wilson’s music was previously featured on several different episodes, including her songs Workin’ Overtime, Rolling Stone, and Small Town, Girl.

The Emmy-nominated show has also featured music from Sturgill Simpson, Tyler Childers, Zach Bryan, Chris Stapleton, Whiskey Myers, Jon Pardi, and many more.

A self-described old soul, Wilson has fast become one of Nashville’s most buzzed about newcomers thanks to a fiery live show and prolific songwriting. At the age of nine, she began writing songs about tequila and cigarettes, and a family trip to Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry that same year solidified her decision to one day move from her home of 300 people in Baskin, Louisiana, to Music City, which she did after high school.

She made her independent debut release Tougher, which charted on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart upon its 2016 release. She followed with two EPs – her self-titled EP in 2018 and 2019’s Redneck Hollywood. In 2020, she made her Grand Ole Opry debut. In 2021, she released her debut album, Sayin’ What I’m Thinking which features the single, Things A Man Oughta Know.

She has supported Jason Aldean, Morgan Wallen, Luke Combs, HARDY, Ashley McBryde, Randy Houser and more. Her current single Heart Like A Truck follows Never Say Never with Cole Swindell, which peaked at #15 on the Countrytown Hot 50 Country Airplay Chart.

Season five of Yellowstone will premiere on November 13.
