More Hinterland More Hinterland

More than 180 artists will descend on Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley this September 6-9 as part of BIGSOUND2022. Fanny Lumsden is taking on the role of BIGSOUND Country ambassador, where she will join a Country Music Taskforce made up of figures from industry-leading festivals, presenters, streaming services, and artist managers.

Developed in partnership with industry bodies including APRA AMCOS and The Country Music Association of Australia (CMAA), and supported by the Brisbane Economic Development Agency, BIGSOUND Country will be threaded throughout this year’s event.

It will see artists like The Buckleys, Darlinghurst, Andrew Swift, Hinterland, Loren Ryan, Melanie Dyer, Taylor Moss, The Wolfe Brothers, Jenny Mitchell and more taking the festival stage.

While we think all the country acts are worth seeing, here are the key country acts we think you should make time to see at BIGSOUND Country!

Andrew Swift

With two Golden Guitars, two chart-topping albums, seven top 10 country singles, and a swag of award nominations to his name, it's not hard to see how Swift's relentless work ethic has seen him go from strength to strength since finding his musical feet in the country music scene.

Jenny Mitchell

Jenny Mitchell is a multi-award-winning, folk/alt-country storyteller with songs wrapped in wisdom and wit. Her sound defies easy categorisation, but if you admire music by genre-defying artists from Emmylou Harris to Kasey Chambers and Jason Isbell, you are going to love Jenny.

Melanie Dyer

2022 APRA AMCOS PDA Winner and 2021 APRA Nominee, Melanie Dyer burst onto the country-pop scene with startling vibrancy. Her debut EP and album produced multiple chart-topping country radio singles. Her second album, Between You & Me, is set for release on September 9.

Taylor Moss

Taylor Moss is currently trending as a "true contender" in Australian Country. Not only is she one of Australian Country's most streamed females, but she has just enjoyed back-to-back top 5 singles including her first #1 Get It Girl. Her latest single Both currently sits at #8 and is rising.

The Wolfe Brothers

The Wolfe Brothers are Australian country music's most-awarded band with six Golden Guitar Awards to date. Their current album Kids On Cassette is the band's fifth studio album. With the staggering statistic of 17 consecutive #1 singles on the National Country Airplay Chart, The Wolfe Brothers just go from strength to strength.

Hinterland

Hinterland have been kicking down the doors of the country music industry since their launch in 2020 with hit singles In The Hinterland, Loud, Giddy Up and Treating Me Good topping the charts across Australia. Heavy on the pop/rock with their guitar and fiddle riffs combined with clever lyricism and melodies, no-one is doing country music like Hinterland.

The Buckleys

Dubbed “Hippie Country” for their feel-good music that doesn’t fit squarely into any one box, The Buckleys have been singled out by American Songwriter as “…something so cool and authentic that the world has no choice but to sit up and take notice.” After exploding the charts with four top five singles from their debut album Daydream, the sibling trio are gearing up for the release of their new EP Take It As It Comes.
