Keith Urban joined ‘team Keith’ contestant Thando Sikwila for a show-stopping duet of Adele’s Oh My God on the season finale of The Voice Australia on May 29th.

The performance came after Sikwila brought Urban to tears with her emotional story ahead of The Voice Australia’s grand finale, during his last mentoring session with the finalist.

Urban said, “You talk so much about you being a mum and a performer, so I thought I would give you a little surprise,” before Thando’s daughter, Charlie, came running into the room.

Sikwila then rehearsed her performance of Andra Day’s Rise Up with Charlie in her arms.

Urban, who is a father of two (Sunday Rose, 14 and Faith Margaret, 12) with wife Nicole Kidman, continued, “You reduced to tears, thank you. I think it’s all about family and love.”

Sikwila said, “In that moment, having Charlie in my arms and singing it to her and having that drive this performance, it just felt like there was this unspoken understanding of what that moment meant for the both of us.”

Urban also performed his current single Nightfalls during the finale. The infectious track peaked at #6 on the Countrytown Hot 50 Country Airplay Chart. The duet Boy Gets A Truck with Jimmie Allen debuted last week at #36.

Urban said, “Writing Nightfalls with Greg Kurstin and Mozella was pure joy. Two summers have gone by with no way to tour and the desire to have that feeling again inspired every part of this song and recording. In a world so full of real struggles and fractures, I wanna try and bring something to help us exhale and be in the moment - if only for 3 mins and 41 seconds.”

Although Sikwila made it to the top four, PE teacher and former football player, Lachie Gill, from Rita Ora’s team was took home the $100,000 prize money and a recording contract with Universal Music Australia. He performed his new winner’s single, Wasted Time.

Sikwila previously appeared in the third season under team Kylie Minogue but was stolen by Ricky Martin and eliminated in the sing-off round. Country artists Lane Pittman, Ella & Sienna, Freddie Bailey and Kaylee Bell all competed in 2022.
