Tyler Hubbard, one half of award-winning country duo Florida Georgia Line, has signed a new deal with EMI Nashville as a solo act.

According to Billboard, Hubbard, who collaborated with Tim McGraw on the hit single Undivided as well as on My Way with breakout TikTok star Lathan Warlick, is expected to start debuting new music soon.

Back in February, both members of Florida Georgia Line indicated they were taking a break to pursue solo endeavours.

Brian Kelley told People, “We’re not going our separate ways. We’re taking a break from recording our music. We’re being artists. We love creating. And so, a couple years back, we started writing without each other and trying different writers, and now we’re both doing that with our music.”

Kelley put out his debut solo album, Sunshine State of Mind, and has been working on bringing his country musical May We All, and now extended movie version, to life. He also formed his own label, called Nashville South Records, which is expected to be the home for his future releases.

Meanwhile, Hubbard hoped to concentrate on songwriting. He co-wrote Little Big Town’s current single, Hell Yeah, as well as his Thomas Rhett-led collab with Russell Dickerson, Death Row.

In an interview earlier this year, Hubbard reflected on how the past couple of years and the COVID-19 pandemic has shifted perspectives.

“We’re in an interesting phase right now,” Hubbard said. “I think we get a new perspective on life right now. We kind of had our blinders on for 10 years of just more songs, more hits, more shows. And now obviously due to the pandemic, we’ve sort of gotten to step back and have a different perspective and enjoy family time and thinking about our future outside of music… What I plan on channelling, and I think BK [Kelley] is on the same page, is the next decade really diving even deeper into our passion for the craft of songwriting… I think we want to invest in younger artists, and we want to create a legacy that’s beyond just making records and touring.”

Florida Georgia Line dropped their fifth studio album, Life Rolls On in February 2021. It debuted at no. 3 on Billboard’s Top Country Album chart, and featured the hit singles I Love My Country and Long Live. In total, the GRAMMY-nominated duo has racked up 17 number on singles, more than 13.2 billion global streams, and sold more than 40 million tracks and 4.7 million albums worldwide.
