Dunk Your Favourite Country Artist This Weekend, Including James Johnston

James Johnston is among the country music artists taking part in Restless Road & Friends Charity Dunk Tank with the CMA Foundation this weekend at CMA Fest in Nashville, Tennessee.

Hosted by Restless Road, Nada Taha, Caden McGuire, Nick Coulson, Ania Hammar and more, other artists taking part in the charity event, which benefits music education, includes BRELAND, Kyle Clark, Niko Moon, Restless Road, Trey Lewis, Andrew Jannakos, David J, Drew Parker, Jordana Bryant, Noah Thompson, Frank Ray, Levi Hummon, Meghan Patrick, Spencer Crandall, Cooper Alan, Dylan Schneider, Jordan Harvey, Tenille Arts, Tyler Rich and more.

Johnston shared on social media, “Excited to be a part of the Restless Road Charity Dunk Tank! That’s right if you’re in Nashville come and dunk in a tank of cold water this Friday at 2pm on Broadway for a great cause! 🤠😂 cya there!”

Johnston is in Nashville as part of the massive line-up for the 50th anniversary celebration of CMA Fest. Over four days, CMA Fest has everything from celebrity panels, a vendor marketplace, games, and partner activations to performances and meet-and-greets.

Other Australians performing includes Loren Ryan, Chloe Styler, Casey Barnes and Melanie Dyer. According to social media, Chelsea Berman, Jake Davey, Blake O’Connor, Sinead Burgess, Damien Baguley from The Viper Creek Band, Kirsty Lee Akers and Troy Kemp are also currently in Nashville as part of the celebration.

CMA Fest is uniquely programmed with artists donating their time so a portion of ticket proceeds can be invested in high-quality music education programs across the U.S. through the CMA Foundation.

Johnston’s rise to the forefront of Australia’s country scene has been a long time coming. Prior to 2021’s RAISED LIKE THAT, Johnston placed third in the 2009 series of Australian Idol, then made the top 24 in the 2014 series of The X Factor Australia.

Thus far in 2023, Johnston has also picked up three prestigious awards. He took home the ‘Country Award’ at this year’s Queensland Music Awards back in March and walked away with both ‘New Talent of the Year’ and ‘Vocal Collaboration of the Year’ (the latter alongside Kaylee Bell) at the 2023 Golden Guitar Awards in January.

Later in the year, he will support Morgan Evans on his Life Upside Down Australian and New Zealand tour.
