KIX Start Winner Denvah and finalist of this year's competition Dylan Wright (from the Cronulla-based duo Sons Of Atticus) have been spotted in the first teaser for the 2024 season of Australian Idol.

Fans saw both appear in the trailer, which aired earlier this week, and KIX Country has let the wider Australian country music community know about it. The next season of Australian Idol will air on Monday, 29 January 2024, via Channel 7 and streaming platform 7plus.

“We may be a little biased, but we reckon they've got what it takes to be the NEXT AUSTRALIAN IDOL,” KIX Country wrote in a Facebook post yesterday (28 November). While there’s excitement in the comment section of the post, this one from 17-year-old Aussie honky-tonk artist Ryan Mead is pretty spot-on: “Both have incredible unique voices - will be a great season!”

As The Music reported earlier this week, the new season of Australian Idol stars returning hosts Ricki-Lee Coulter and Scott Tweedie, while the new trailer for next year’s season features the voice of Marcia Hines. There’s been no reveal of the fourth judge yet, with Hines expected to be joined by this year’s judges, Amy Shark and Kyle Sandilands.

Meghan Trainor and Harry Connick Jr., who were judges on the 2023 reboot season of Australian Idol, are both out, with speculation leading to the fourth chair being reserved for a rotating roster of special guest judges, including Adam Lambert.

Last month, Denvah won the Groundwater Country Music Festival’s KIX-Start competition. “I’m so grateful and excited to have been chosen as the winner for Groundwater’s KIX-Start 2023 competition,” Denvah commented in a press release.

“The support from this competition is amazing and truly a blessing. The talent in the top 10 was absolutely incredible, so I’m extremely honoured to have been selected.”

In July 2022, Sad Songs by Sons Of Atticus was named Countrytown’s Song Of The Day, a charming alt-country number that tells the story of a weary traveller whose only companions are the songs they sing to pass the time.
