Countrytown in partnership with KIX Country is proud to announce award-winning singer-songwriter, Christie Lamb as this week’s ‘Centre Stage’ artist. Every week we'll be shining a light on a single artist across all platforms including online features, airplay, and social support.

Born in England, Christie moved to Australia at 6-years-old and found her love for the stage through taking dance lessons. She began playing flute at primary school, before commencing piano and vocal lessons later at age ten. At 14, Christie took up guitar and began songwriting.

Although Christie sang in many different genres, she was drawn to country music in her teenage years, influenced by the likes of Shania Twain, Carrie Underwood, Gretchen Wilson, Delta GoodremKasey Chambers, Beccy Cole, Gina Jeffreys and Tania Kernaghan. Following high school, she studied a Bachelor of Music at university and travelled to Nashville, Tennessee.

She released her first EP in 2011, featuring her debut single Mr. Wrong, which reached #4 on the Country Tracks Top 30. 2014 saw the release of her 11-track debut album, All She Wrote. The following year, Christie was awarded the fan voted CMC Award for ‘New Oz Artist of the Year’.

She was also the recipient of a second CMC Award in 2018 for ‘Female Artist of the Year’ and also took home the 2016 Golden Guitar Award for ‘New Talent of the Year.’

Following her 2017 album Loaded, her third album Broken Lines was released in 2019. It debuted at #1 on the iTunes Country Album Chart and topped the ARIA Charts at #1 on the Country Album Chart. The first single, Hot Hot Kiss, debuted at #1 on the iTunes Country Charts and its remix on the iTunes Dance Charts, making Christie the first Australian artist to have #1 hits on both iTunes charts. She now has 15 top 5 radio releases to her name.

Christie has toured relentlessly with her own dates across Australia and New Zealand and is quite the regular face on the festival scene. She has also been a part of national tours with Lee Kernaghan for four years. Earlier tours have included two years with Aussie legend Jon English as the lead female vocalist and musician on ‘The Rock Revolution’ tour, ‘The Girls of Country’ tour with Amber Lawrence and Aleyce Simmonds, plus ‘This Crazy Life’ tour with The Wolfe Brothers.

She previously has opened for the likes of Carol King, Simply Bushed, James Taylor, Meatloaf, Thirsty Merc, Evanescence and Cat Stevens.

Christie recently welcomed her first child – Charlotte Rose English – with her husband, Jonathan English and released her fourth studio album, Truth. The album’s current single, Three Chords and A Woman’s Truth, is a powerful celebration honouring the women of country music who have inspired Christie over the years. It also features  Beat Of My Own Drum, Up All Night featuring Timothy James Bowen and Kiss About It.

Christie says, “When writing the songs for this album, I wanted to challenge myself whilst being entirely true to myself. I wanted to go deeper and more personal than I’ve ever gone before. This album is definitely about me growing as a person and an artist. I have written the songs on this album from life experiences, my heart, and my truth”.
