"In the studio recording it, I could just hear a sexy man with a southern accent counting the song in and the first person that came to mind was Billy Ray Cyrus."

More Shania Twain More Shania Twain

Shania Twain is teaming up with Achy Breaky Heart hitmaker and fellow ‘90s country music artist, Billy Ray Cyrus for an upcoming duet. On Three will feature on an expanded version of her latest album, Queen Of Me: Royal Edition (Extended) along with another unreleased track called Done & Dusted.

Twain wrote on social media, “I’m happy to announce Queen Of Me: Royal Edition (Extended)! This version includes a couple of tracks that some of you may be familiar with... It’s out Friday 23rd.”

She added, "I'd already written On Three and was in the studio recording it, I could just hear a sexy man with a southern accent counting the song in and the first person that came to mind was Billy Ray Cyrus 😂. I called him up and literally had him record it down the phone."

Queen Of Me was released on February 3, 2023, and featured the singles Waking Up Dreaming, Last Day Of Summer and Giddy Up! In April, she gave it the deluxe treatment by adding five new tracks including a duet with BRELAND. The album peaked at #5 on the Australian ARIA Top 50 Albums Chart.

Twain told NME, “I do love to write in solitary, I love to be isolated to write, I like to shut the world out but with the pandemic going on for so long, month after month after month, it was starting to weigh on me. I was worried about my family, worried about my friends, worried about the world.”

She continued, “I realised that I go to songwriting as a therapy and I began to say, ‘okay maybe if I just focus on writing happy lyrics, songs that I want to dance to, lyrics that make me smile and laugh, then it should pick my spirits up.’ And it worked, so it was like an exercise of managing my moods, and I ended up writing a very, I'm calling it my happy album because it put me in a good mood in a dark time.”
