“It’s a real coup for us,” says program director Oz Bayldon

More Wolfmother More Wolfmother

Organisers of the Gympie Music Muster have made their final lineup announcement for this year’s edition, throwing a rather unexpected name into the mix: Wolfmother.

In a press statement, Oz Bayldon (the festival’s program director) argued that Wolfmother’s addition was fitting given the Muster’s aim to cater for a broad range of tastes. “We are a country, rock and blues festival, so we’ve ensured we ticked each of those boxes with this year’s entertainment,” he said. “It’s a real coup for us to have the likes of Hoodoo Gurus, Wolfmother, The Angels, The Screaming Jets, and 19Twenty on top of all our blues acts. They are in addition to our huge range of top line country music artists from Australia, the US and Canada.”

Wolfmother are the second act added to the bill this month, following last week’s announcement that Morgan Evans would be making an appearance as a headliner. They join an enormous roster of more than 100 artists, the first batch of whom were announced in December last year. The second round of performers was revealed early in March, while the festival’s ambassadors – Brooke McClymont and Adam Eckersley – were locked in later that same month.

In a statement of their own, the Hoodoo Gurus’ Dave Faulkner said he couldn’t wait to perform at the 2023 edition of the Gympie Music Muster: “I grew up in Western Australia but it seems like I've been hearing about the Gympie Muster all my life. I'm really excited to finally get to experience it for myself. Even better, I'll actually be a part of it, performing with my band, the Hoodoo Gurus. Yes, this year the legendary Hoodoo Gurus will be playing the legendary Gympie Muster. It had to happen!”
