Young Lovers by Andrew Swift – Video Premiere

13 April 2022 | 9:56 am | Mallory Arbour

‘Young Lovers’ is the first single from the forthcoming studio album by award-winning country artist, Andrew Swift.

Do you remember your first love? Award-winning country artist, Andrew Swift sure does, and he’s gone and written a whole song about it – and Countrytown has the first look at the super-cute, retro Young Lovers music video in this exclusive premiere. It’s also our Song of the Day!

For the music video, Andrew took the producer seat for the first time, alongside 1201 Productions. Shot at Caribbean Rollerama in Scoresby, Victoria by director Sean McDonald, who picked up an old handycam from Cash Convertors to shoot the clip, it stars actors Hayley Baumgarth and Joe Pike. Standing at 6’3, Andrew and his band were entertained by Joe trying his hand at roller skating for the first time – as Andrew notes, Joe “resembled a baby deer trying to walk for the first time.”

Andrew adds, “I had an absolute ball making the Young Lovers music video. We had an extremely fun location to work with, both Hayley and Joe had a contagious energy that fuelled everyone else involved and Sean and his crew really grasped the concept and look I was chasing. I really wanted to have a classic look to this music video and Sean certainly delivered. Handing an old school home movie camera to Hayley and Joe at the start of the night was a stroke of genius by Sean, it really allowed us to capture some candid, natural moments that we otherwise would have missed.”

Produced by Matt Fell at Love HZ Studios, Young Lovers delivers a contemporary country feel and is the first taste of what’s to come from Andrew’s eagerly awaited forthcoming album.

Andrew says, “I really wanted to capture that nostalgic memory of a young love, full of excitement and discovery, the kind that you never forget. I think Young Lovers is a song that a lot of people can relate to, most of us have had an experience with a fumbling, adrenaline filled coming of age moment, and that’s what this one is all about. Writing Young Lovers with Phil Barton was a lot of fun, we’ve written a few songs together now, but this one just came together so easily, like it was just sitting there waiting for us.”

I’ve always loved reading through a CD or vinyl booklet and seeing who did what on a song, I still do it now on some...
