VIDEO PREMIERE: Corey Legge - 'Friday Nights'

Friday Nights are great nights, right? That’s what Bega-born, Wollongong-based singer-songwriter Corey Legge thinks on his new single, Friday Nights, for which Countrytown is premiering the music video today.

“What are you doing through? What are you trying to prove now?” Legge sings as he walks down a hill, playing the guitar alongside cows, setting up a tent and a campfire. “I know you’re going through low down and lonesome blues,” the Aussie country artist declares, singing that he’s “proud of you” as he thinks back to Friday Nights.

Later in the music video, Legge shakes hands with friends as they crack open some beers and plays a rousing guitar solo ready for stages. Friday Nights is an upbeat, uplifting new song from Legge that you need to add to your campfire-ready playlists. Check out the music video below.

First Nights is the first single from his upcoming fourth album, which is due for release in 2024. The music video was filmed and edited by Jay Seeney (Blacklist Productions), while the song was recorded at Kasey Chambers’ home studio of The Rabbit Hole Recording Studio on the Central Coast.

The latest track from Legge was engineered, produced and mixed by Nash Chambers, co-produced and co-engineered by Syd Green, and mastered by Matthew Gray (Matthew Gray Mastering).

In April 2022, Legge’s April Fool was named Countrytown’s Song Of The Day, which we called a “bittersweet alt-country song about the strength of love in the face of adversity and how easy it is to lose it all”.

April Fool was the fourth single from Legge’s third album, What Now? which is a heartfelt and honest collection of alt-country and rock songs with a common thread of tragedy, hope and resilience.

The 11-track concept album aims to document the unprecedented times we live in and share the stories of those directly affected by the Black Summer Bushfires and COVID-19. Featuring the singles Cemetery Kids, Love You & Leave You and What Now? will appeal to fans of Bernard Fanning, Paul Kelly and Passenger.
