At just 20 years of age, Moreton Bay’s Cassi Marie has been consistently achieving success not only as a solo artist but also as a member of two impressive bands over the past couple of years.

Stepping back into the solo driver’s seat for her latest release, Starving Heart, Cassi again reminds us why she is one of the most exciting and talked about talents in Australian country music. The self-penned track brings about a more contemporary and edgier sound to her music.

Cassi says the song is about “someone who struggles to let love into their heart and finds it easier to run than to let themselves be loved.”

The accompanying music video, which premieres today exclusively on Countrytown, was filmed and produced by Jason Millhouse from Recordworks, Brisbane.

Inspired by Missy Higgins and Kasey Chambers, Cassi has been singing and performing since the age of 9. She went on to write songs for an international clothing brand at the age of 10 and was launched as the face of the companies 2012/13 summer campaign, appearing in television commercials and music videos. At 12, she won the Gympie Muster Talent Search.

A graduate of the CMAA Academy of Country Music, the award-winning singer-songwriter has performed across Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast and into NSW, at many festivals and gigs. In 2019, she released her fifth EP, Pieces Of My Heart. Recorded by the legendary Bill Chambers, the EP debuted at #2 on the Australian Country iTunes Chart.

Since 2020, she has been working with the bands The English Rain and The Kindly Ravens alongside Steve Boom, lending her voice and songwriting talents to tracks such as Silver and Gold and Everywhere I Go. She also released solo singles Walls and Burn in 2021.

Cassi also appears in the Claire Pasvolsky musical documentary, Big Sky Girls, which premiered at Cinequest Film & Creativity Festival in Silicon Valley on August 16. The documentary features a day in the life of ten young women from regional and remote Australia looking to build a music career and their mentors in 2019 – just before COVID caused havoc across the music industry.

As well as her music and acting, Cassi owns Lost Mind Clothing, Marshmallow Moon and Unicorn Tea. She also designs and creates merchandise for other artists and festivals.
