CountryTown is proud to announce Brett Eldredge as our Artist of the Week, following the release of his new album, Songs About You

Raised in Paris, Illinois, Eldredge started performing in local singing competitions when he was young. Inspired by his cousin Terry Eldredge (former member of six-piece bluegrass band The Grascals), Eldredge transferred to Tennessee State University from Elmhurst College in Chicago and started making music along with Terry.

After performing at a Nashville songwriter’s night, Eldredge signed to Atlantic Records and released his debut single Raymond in 2010, which garnered huge public attention. His single achieved rank #23 in the Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart.

His following singles Don’t Ya, Beat Of The Music and It Ain’t Gotta Be Love also achieved chart success. Eldredge released his debut album Bring You Back in 2013. In addition to his own music, Eldredge also wrote songs recorded by Trace Adkins, Gary Allan, Jake Owen and more.

The singles garnered his first ACM, CMT and CMA Award nominations, including four wins. Notably, he took home the CMA Award for ‘New Artist of the Year’ in 2014.

In 2015, he released the lead single from his second album, Illinois, which reached #1 on the Country Airplay Chart. Two successful singles followed (Drunk On Love and Wanna Be That Song), with Eldredge performing as one of the opening acts on Taylor Swift’s Red Tour.

He later released his first Christmas album, Glow, in 2016 and Somethin’ I’m Good At, the lead single to his self-titled fourth album released the following year. The 2020 album Sunday Drive followed. Eldredge released his second Christmas album, Mr. Christmas in 2021.

He also teamed with Jon Pardi for their first ever co-headline tour together across the East Coast of Australia. Together they did four dates across Brisbane, Sydney, Tamworth and Melbourne as well as Winton’s Way Out West Festival in 2019.

Now comes his album, Songs About You, which includes including the previously released Want That Back and Holy Water. Candid in its approach and backed by an uncluttered, minimalistic soundscape, each of the 12 co-written songs finds Eldredge getting raw and unfiltered in a way rarely attempted in country music – or anywhere else. The LP shines a light on themes like fear and desire, a public struggle with anxiety and his newfound appreciation for self-acceptance.

“I knew exactly what I wanted to say and what I wanted the album to sound like,” said Eldredge. “I wanted the album to be songs that connect us all in the human experience. These are emotions that are reflective of each of us. There are songs of solitude, joy and heartbreak, and I like that tension. Songs About You is about the songs that instantly recall your own experiences. The songs that can make you remember exactly how you felt, or the sights around you or the smells in the air. The songs that make you remember all the happiness and the heartbreak.”
