Zac Brown Band drops exclusive Amazon single

Multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning Zac Brown Band has dropped a new single available exclusively to stream and purchase only on Amazon Music. The song is a cover of Sweet Baby James, the opening track on James Taylor’s 1970 breakthrough second album and is considered by Taylor to be his best song.

The track was written by Taylor as he drove to North Carolina to see his new-born nephew who had been named James after him. In Sweet Baby James, Taylor sings a lullaby to baby James while telling him about the realities of being raised a cowboy.

Zac Brown says, “I started listening to James Taylor in elementary school. He’s probably my single biggest influence that I’ve ever had. What Taylor plays on the acoustic guitar is very hard – there are moving base lines, and there’s a rhythm and melody all playing at one time. He showed me what you can do with a single guitar to accompany a song. I hope our fans love this as much as we do.”

The new release follows two digital singles Zac Brown Band released last year, including The Man Who Loves You The Most, which debuted at number one on Billboard’s country digital song sales chart, and You and Islands. Their last studio album was The Owl came out in September, 2019.

Zac Brown Band shared the stage with Taylor at the 2011 Academy of Country Music Awards and performed a medley of their hit song Colder Weather with Sweet Baby James.
