Petric is a Canadian country band composed of brothers Jason and Tom Petric, along with their long-time friend, Jordan Day. Countrytown has the absolute pleasure to premiere the music video for their latest romantic new single, White Lyin’. It’s also our Song of the Day!

Petric says, “Country music doesn’t have as many stories in songs as there use to be. White Lyin’ is a story. A story about a boy who gets caught up with girl, and mixed up with a world full of emotions. In the heat of the moment, he leads her on and says words that he felt were the right things to say at the time, even though he may not have actually felt what he had said. On one hand, you feel really bad for this girl whose heart got broken, but, on the other hand, you sympathise for the guy who regrets that he couldn’t figure out how to love her properly.”

They add, “This song, and this story are real, and you can feel it. That’s what we connected with the most when we recorded it. We aimed to capture, and portray that emotion when we shot the video for the song. We wanted our viewers to feel the regret, and I think the whole team did a great job putting together the video.”

The music video was filmed at the historic Saint Pauls Anglican Church in Manitoba, Canada, built in 1910. Lead singer, Tom, and his fiancé Denarah Bayrak star in the lead roles.

Tom says, “Too be honest, when the band asked if I would be the lead actor in this video, I told them no. I’d never done it, and had no ambition to take on that role in a video. As the video and plan came together, Jason presented the idea and asked if Denarah would consider playing the female role in the video. At the point, I became much more excited to tackle this project, and acting role. Denarah looked amazing, and played the role perfectly. This was her favourite song on the album from day one, so it was great being able to include her in this project, and have her light up the camera for us.”

Formed back in 2014, Petric have since racked up over twelve million online streams, over 600 thousand views on YouTube, multiple chart-topping hit singles on Canadian country music radio, including three top 20 singles, and have won a handful of awards. They have taken their music from the small stages of hometown bars, to the most prestigious festivals and venues across Canada, including the Calgary Stampede, Cavendish Beach Music Festival, Boots & Hearts, Country Thunder, and more.

White Lyin’ is the follow up to the singles, Kids and Déjà Vu from their latest EP Flashbacks. The track has already accumulated over 100,000 online streams.
