We premiere the new music video for Unfaithful by Darlinghurst. The thought that springs to mind is “How did they fit so much music into 2.36 seconds?”

More Darlinghurst More Darlinghurst

On hearing this new release from Darlinghurst, the first thought that springs to mind is “How did they fit so much music into 2.36 seconds?” Unfaithful is the foot-stomping two minute thirty-six second thrill-seeker; that runs wild from the moment it starts, until its explosive finish – and Countrytown has your first exclusive look at its music video.

Produced by Pete Dacy and band member Jason Resch at Secret Sound Studios Melbourne, Jason says, “Unfaithful is a song about the betrayal of one’s trust, caused by another’s ulterior motives. The inspiration came from a walk-through Palm Springs, California - surrounded by the concept of beauty and contentment; but to then have a self-realisation that what we consider paradise, beautiful and everlasting - may not be what they’re perceived to be.”

Directed by Ian Ritter, the music video was filmed in Sunbury, Victoria at Chrome Productions studios and features three members of the Drummer Queens, a stage production that is currently touring Australia. The Drummer Queens production is under the direction of Joe Accaria who was the musical director of the Tap Dogs.

Since their debut single, Sorry We Won’t Get Back To You in June 2019, Darlinghurst have been blazing a path through Australian country music. The four-piece Melbourne band were nominated for ‘Best New Talent’ at the 2021 Golden Guitar Awards and have netted five consecutive top 5 radio chart hits (3 of which peaked at #1). Two of their singles have also tasted US success, with So Long So Long debuting at #73 on the US Music Row chart, and Gotta Go Rodeo currently sitting at #52 and climbing.

Consisting of Jason Resch, Pagan Newman, Cassie Leopold and Matt Darvidis, the story of Darlinghurst is an interesting one ... After four years and a run of hits in the UK, as well as stints in Los Angeles and Nashville, Jason returned home to Melbourne at the end of 2015. Two years later, he met up with Cassie and Pagan in 2017 and they decided to form a band. Cassie did backing vocals for Christine Anu and Olivia Newton-John, and played theme parks in the US, meanwhile, Pagan cut a RNB/Soul album in the US, and is a music teacher. Wanting to expand into a four-piece, their producer suggested Matt – a guitarist from a family of musicians. As soon as he heard the songs, he agreed straight away to join Darlinghurst – and the rest, as they say, is history.

Unfaithful will feature on their forthcoming 11-track debut album, due in August.
