Countrytown is thrilled to be able to bring you the music video for Tumblin’ Back by Americana singer-songwriter, Lisa De Angelis in this exclusive premiere.

Tumblin' Back was produced, recorded and mixed by Paul Bain and Isaac Kennedy at Five Town Productions in Banyo, Queensland. It was mastered by Grammy Award-winner William Bowden at King Willy Sound in Tasmania.

With the chorus kicking around for about five years, Lisa revisited the song last year, before her first ever tour, opening outback shows for Steve Kilbey of The Church from Broken Hill to the South Australian border – and the rest of the song just came pouring out.

Lisa says, “Tumblin’ Back was inspired by multiple trips through the desert of southwest USA and the Australian outback. There’s something spiritual about the desert, in the way it strips everything back to the bones and the truth. Musically, we really wanted to turn those landscapes into soundscapes. Lyrically, for me, this song is about coming into your power and your magic and who you are - seeing yourself honestly and owning that. Whenever anyone asks me what kind of music, I make I say, ‘scary country music’, and this song is 100% representative of who I am as an artist.”

Standing just five feet tall, this tiny live wire did not come to play. A reformed thrill-seeker with stories so weird and wild they beggar belief and a taste for the unconventional, ultimately decided to stop travelling the world by the seat of her pants and put all that life experience into making catchy, gutsy, hard-hitting Americana music.

Having only picked up a guitar for the first time in September of 2017, her resume is impressive. After graduating from the Country Music Association of Australia’s prestigious Academy of Country Music in 2019, she has wasted no time making a name for herself. As well as Kilbey, she has toured with and opened shows for Grinspoon frontman Phil Jamieson, blues guitar prodigy and BB King’s protege Nathan Cavaleri, as well as Golden Guitar winner and ARIA Award nominee Catherine Britt.

Scrappy, vulnerable and heartfelt, 'part Judy Garland, part Saturday Night Live comedian' on stage, Lisa hails from Sydney's southwest and cut her musical teeth in the deep south of the United States. She relocated to Brisbane in June of 2021, where she is currently recording her debut album, due for release in 2022.
