Troy Cassar-Daley Leads New Documentary For NITV

Troy Cassar-Daley is set to star in a new documentary, premiering this December.

Premiering on Saturday, December 18 at 7:30pm on NITV (National Indigenous Television), Sing About This Country is a story of friendship, family and brotherhood, set amidst the backdrop of stunning remote landscapes and showcasing musical performances like no other.

The documentary follows Cassar-Daley and his friends from The Black Image Band, brothers Cliff Harrigan, Pando Harrigan, Dylan Harrigan and Porky Harrigan, as they tour and perform in Indigenous communities throughout Queensland’s Cape York Peninsula.

Follow the group as they bring their music to isolated communities, culminating in a hometown performance in Cooktown in front of their family and friends, as well as a lively audience enjoying some good quality country music.  

Cassar-Daley said, “Every now and then you get to do something that fills your heart and soul to the brim, rekindling old friendships and reminiscing about the past on a very sacred part of our country. We got to feel the old people’s spirits around us as we travelled, heal together, play music together and sing about this amazing country of ours! Come along for the adventure with us.”

Sing About This Country will lead a new NITV music programming slate, with a music documentary airing every Saturday at 7:30pm from Saturday 18 December.

With a career spanning over three decades, Cassar-Daley has released a total of eleven studio albums, achieved a staggering 32 number one chart singles, and been awarded numerous accolades including 37 Golden Guitars, 5 ARIA Awards (including his ‘Best Country Album’ win for The World Today), 3 APRA Song of the Year Awards, 9 Deadlys (Australian Indigenous Artist Awards), 4 CMAA Entertainer of the Year Awards plus 2 NIMAs (National Indigenous Music Awards). Furthermore, in 2017, Troy was honoured as the 50th inductee into the prestigious Australasian Roll Of Renown.
