Three Quarter Time by Australian sister duo, Bec and Rachel from Innocent Eve is our Song of the Day! Three Quarter Time is the third single off their sophomore album Viking, which is out today.

Produced by multi-award winner, Matt Fell at Love HZ studios and self-penned by Innocent Eve, the song is for the moment and has sentiments that many of us can relate to after a year of lockdowns and restrictions. Three Quarter Time is a reference to a style of dance known as the Waltz.

Bec says, “I wrote this song during a lonely time in my life, after moving a long way from my family and friends. I suppose Three Quarter Time is a cry for help, about wanting someone to take my loneliness away. I had an aching for connection during a long, self-imposed solitude, but at the same time I was so afraid to connect with anyone.”

The music video was produced by ARIA and Golden Guitar winner, Duncan Toombs of The Filmery.

Bec adds, “The setting [for the music video] was a sewing room belonging to the Gosford Musical Society. The costume creation room was the perfect setting to conjure up a melancholy scene for a solitary seamstress to pour her loneliness into sewing a dress for an upcoming event. With the haunting and beautiful mannequin as her muse and eventual dance partner, the lonely seamstress chooses her solitude over the outside world once more.”

Innocent Eve released their debut album Temporary Balms six years ago, which featured five singles, all of which charted high on the Country Tracks Top 40 and on the CMC Top 50. They followed with their EP release True North in 2016. The current album, Viking is a collection of Innocent Eve’s perspectives on life, love, people and the world, with touches of folk, rock and Celtic influences.

Innocent Eve have opened for John Williamson, Luke O’Shea, Shannon Noll, Casey Barnes, and Brad Butcher, to name a few, and have toured extensively throughout Australia and on the high seas. They will perform at the Agnes Blues & Roots Festival and the Adora Downs Country Rockin’ Blues Shindig this year.
