That’s Why We’re Here by Jason McGregor – Video Premiere

Gold Coast-based singer-songwriter and guitarist, Jason McGregor recently released his debut single, That’s Why We’re Here, and Countrytown has your first look at the music video for this exclusive premiere.

Debuting at No. 10 on the iTunes Country Songs Chart, the single has been warmly embraced by live audiences for the past few months, as Jason has been performing it as part of his live sets and when opening for Adam Brand. That’s Why We’re Here was born in the car on the way home from the airport after live gigs, when Jason was chatting with Adam about why they toured and played shows across the country.

Jason says, “We were talking about what the point of getting out there and playing shows was. It’s all about taking people out of the world that they arrive from and bringing them into the moment they are in now and getting them into that show right at the time.”

He adds, “That night, I put all the lines down and wrote the song, which is about all those people who are out there living lives that are hard work, but then they all get together and be in the moment at concerts. It’s about forgetting all that work and their lives outside.”

Jason has released solo instrumental singles previously, but this was his first release on lead vocals.

He says, “This is definitely different to what I’ve done before, but I feel great about doing more of this and taking another step in the direction that I’m meant to be headed in. That’s Why We’re Here is the perfect introduction of my music and my messages. I like to sing tunes that are message-based songs and it’s a good honest introduction to what I’m about.”

Recorded with Scott French from Love Street Studios on the Gold Coast who engineered the single, That’s Why We’re Here features Jason on guitars, Scott on bass, Mik Easterman on drums, and Gideon Klein on pedal steel with production by Adam Brand and Jason and mixing and mastering by Luke Wooten in Nashville.

As well as Adam Brand, Jason has toured with Shoshana Bean, The Voice’s Luke Kennedy and Naomi Price, and Australian Idol finalist Paulini. He won 'The People's Choice Award 2016' with the Gold Coast Music Awards. Jason's other accolades include winning in 3 categories for the Australian Songwriter Awards, and taking home a QMusic Awards with Gold Coast local legends group, The Lamplights.
