More Kaylee Bell More Kaylee Bell

Our Song of the Day is the feel-good anthem, That Summer by award-winning country-pop artist Kaylee Bell featuring Nashville-native singer-songwriter, Josh Mirenda. That Summer is from her new album to be released in August 2021.

Kaylee wrote the song on a Nashville writing trip with Taylor Acorn and Andrew Pacheco. When it came to recording the song, Kaylee could hear a male voice on the track and reached out to Josh, as he has always been one of her favourite US country voices.

She says, 'I tweaked the verses with Kiwi pop artist, Lepani and my producer, Simon Oscroft in my home studio in NZ to allow the song to sit better with a male collaboration. It's a feel good, upbeat summer anthem reminiscing on young love.”

Josh adds, “I’m honoured to have worked with Kaylee on this song. Especially given the times we have all been in recently, just making music feels great. Especially when it’s with such a unique scenario.”

The music video was shot at Bethells Beach in New Zealand, and features throughout the cutting between handwritten lyrics telling the story of the song and shots of the couple at the beach.

Kaylee hails from Waimate, on the South Island of New Zealand, but moved to Australia at the age of 21, where she kick started her career by winning the prestigious Toyota Star Maker award. Her latest release THE RED EP ties together five hit singles that make up over 10 million Spotify streams alone, making Kaylee the 'Most Streamed Country Artist' for Australasia in 2020 behind US based stars Keith Urban and Morgan Evans.

As well as being invited to perform the #1 single We Were Us with Urban on his Light The Fuse World Tour of Australia in 2014 and again on his 2016 ripCORD World Tour in Wellington, she has opened for Alan Jackson, Lee Kernaghan, The McClymonts, Evans and The Chicks.

Kaylee recently released a re-imagined version of That Summer featuring Lepani on vocals.
