Taylor Swift, Keith Urban, Mickey Guyton Sing At Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Concert

The 36th annual Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Induction Concert featured performances from Taylor Swift, Keith Urban and Mickey Guyton, honouring this year’s induction class of Carole King, Tina Turner, The Foo Fighters, The Go-Go’s, Jay-Z and Todd Rundgren.

The ceremony also honoured Kraftwerk, Gil-Scott Heron,and Charley Patton with the Early Influence award, while Randy Rhoads, Billy Preston, and LL Cool J were honoured with the Musical Excellence Award.

Swift opened the evening with King’s Will You Love Me Tomorrow. The performance earned the legendary songwriter’s seal of approval, moving her to tears. During her acceptance speech, King said of Swift, “You’re like my professional granddaughter.”

Long-time fan, Swift said of King, "I cannot remember a time when I didn't know her music; I was raised by two of her biggest fans. I listen to Carol's music now and I feel that same tingle of recognition. Her songs speak to the true and honest feelings that everyone has felt, is feeling or hopes to be feeling one day."

She added, "The purity to the music that she creates exists between two worlds – one of mystery and magical inspiration and another of decades of hard-earned and heard-learned craftsmanship. Just because it looks so effortless doesn't mean it has been."

Written with Gerry Goffin, the song was originally recorded in 1960 by the Shirelles, who took it to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song has since been recorded by many artists over the years, including King, The Four Seasons, Linda Ronstadt and Amy Winehouse among others.

Urban later performed Turner’s classic It’s Only Love along with R&B singer-songwriter, H.E.R. Guyton also paid tribute to Turner with a performance of What’s Love Got to Do With It.

The song was released in 1984 and was taken from Turner’s fifth solo album, Private Dancer. What’s Love Got to Do With It gave the “Queen of Rock 'n Roll” her first and only Billboard Hot 100 number one single, selling over 1.5 million copies worldwide. It was also a hit in Australia, peaking at number two on the ARIA charts and platinum-certified with over 70,000 sales. In 2012, the song was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame too.

Held at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHousein Cleveland, Ohio, the concert also included appearances from Jennifer Hudson, Christina Aguilera, Eminem, Jennifer Lopez, Sir. Paul McCartney, Lionel Richie, Angela Bassett, Dave Chappelle, Barack Obama, Drew Barrymore, Dr. Dre and more.
