Savannah In The Round is the latest festival to be affected by COVID-19, with ongoing border restrictions forcing the event to change its line-up.

Tropical North Queensland’s Savannah In The Round is the latest festival to be affected by COVID-19, with ongoing border restrictions forcing the event to change its previously announced line-up.

The new line-up boasts over 40 artists set to perform at the three-day festival over the Queen’s Birthday (1-3 October) long weekend. New artists added to the bill include John Butler, Sheppard, San Cisco, Ian Moss, Sneaky Sound System, Adam Brand, Sara Storer, Russell Morris and Brian Cadd, Glenn Shorrock, Beccy Cole, Caitlyn Shadbolt, Little Steely Brothers, Brad Butcher, Hinterland, James Johnston, Josh Setterfield, Julian James, Hussy Hicks, Hillbilly Goats, Roz Pappalardo, Aurelle Brunjes, Robert Cini, and Talitha Jae.

Festival Director James Dein says, “Thankfully we live in a country that’s rich with musical talent from end to end. Something we would never do is compromise the quality of the event we’re delivering for the Tropical North, so rest assured the 20 plus new artists we’re welcoming to the event today will make for an incredible celebration of music - something we all need now more than ever.”

Joining the new additions are previously announced legends and chart-toppers John Williamson, Lee Kernaghan, Troy Cassar-Daley, Graeme Connors, Busby Marou, The Wolfe Brothers, Brad Cox, Casey Barnes, Sammy White, Will Day, Pamagirri Dancers, Cameron Cusack and many others.

Dein adds, “We look forward to welcoming many of the artists who can’t make it this year to Savannah in the Round 2022, and while they’ll be sorely missed at the inaugural event, we’re delighted to have these new acts who are certain to help us deliver an event worthy of our passionate and dedicated audience. That audience has been patiently waiting for a festival this for over two years now, and the understanding and support they’ve shown us is very special and greatly appreciated.”

Savannah in the Round is located at Kerribee Park (Mareeba Rodeo Grounds), just 7 kilometres from the centre of Mareeba in the Cairns Hinterland. Its main stage is inside the rodeo area, with a floored mosh pit, camp chair area and tiered outdoor area seating. The festival will also host an Indigenous cultural program, community entertainment, local produce and goods, paddock to plate and a range of accommodation options.

Originally scheduled for the Queen’s Birthday Weekend in 2020, Savannah in the Round was one of the many festivals postponed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
