Run Out Of Road by singer-songwriter, Melanie Dyer is the perfect country-pop track for upcoming summer road trips. Produced by Pete Holz, and co-written with Forest Glen Whitehead and Dan Fernandez, it's our Song of the Day!

Melanie says, “I wrote Run Out Of Road during my last trip to the USA in Feb 2020 just weeks before COVID hit Australia and they stopped all International flights. I've been so lucky to travel from Gold Coast to California, New Zealand to Memphis and everywhere in between for music. When the world came to a halt in 2020, this song took on a whole new meaning. This song is a reminder that life is fleeting, and moments are precious. Take every chance to wander, fall in love and enjoy the ride because we all know how quickly it can be taken away.”

Directed by Jeremy Dylan between Surry Hills and Sydney’s Royal National Park just days before lockdown hit back in June, the music video is a nod to hitting the highway, the freedom of the top down, cruising in the sunshine “til we run out of road!”

Melanie says, “It was such a fun day driving with the top down in the cherry red mustang with a crew of good friends – the best!”

The 2010 CMAA Academy of Country Music graduate appeared on The Voice in 2012, receiving standing ovations from all four judges at the time: Keith Urban, Delta Goodrem, Seal and Joel Madden. Three years later, in April 2015, she released her debut EP, which produced the chart-topping singles, Lifetime, Busy Doing Nothing and All You Need To Know About Me.

In 2017, Melanie released her debut album Fresh with the title track (co-written in Nashville with Morgan Evans) an established #1 hit on The Australian Official Country Hot 50 chart for five consecutive weeks and the accompanying video #1 on CMC Australia. Follow up single Save My Cents, a song Melanie penned alone also shot to the top of both radio and CMC charts and was a Top 10 finalist in the International Song writing Competition in 2018.

More recently, Melanie enjoyed breakout success with her single Memphis T-Shirt. Released in November 2019, the song was added to playlists on HIT and Nova Networks and over 100 Regional stations around Australia, enjoying 6 weeks at #1 on the Countrytown Music Network Hot 50 Country Airplay Chart and #1 on CMC. The song went on to receive an APRA nomination for ‘The Most Performed Country Work’ in 2021. She followed up with the single 20s, released late last year.

A regular at the Tamworth Country Music Festival, Melanie has played at CMC Rocks Festival, Gympie Music Muster and at Nashville’s iconic Bluebird Café. She has also toured with Brad Cox, The McClymonts, Adam Eckersley and Brooke McClymont, James Reyne and Diesel.
