Rider Essentials: Jasmin Bade

27 January 2022 | 1:36 pm | Mallory Arbour

We caught up with rising Australian, Nashville-based country-pop singer Jasmin Bade to find out the things she always takes on the road with her.

Dubbed as “one to watch” by the Nashville Songwriters Association International for her debut single I’m Fine, Jasmin Bade hit the ground running when she touched down in Nashville straight out of college. The Aussie native country-pop singer paired up with Spencer Jordan to pen the song, which covered the topic of mental health and was produced by Steven Martinez. We premiered her charting sophomore single X’s and Y’s here.

With vocals comparable to Miranda Lambert and Natalie Maines of The Chicks, Jasmin uses a combination of elements that pull from the classic country she listened to growing up as well as he pop hits heard on today’s charts. As a songwriter, Jasmin is skilled at getting to the root of the story, which brings authenticity to her lyrics. She will release more music in 2022.

We caught up with Jasmin to find out the things she always takes on the road with her for this week’s Rider Essentials.

1. Runners/Sneakers

Even when I know I'm pretty booked solid with gigs, you never know when you might have a free 20 minutes for a fun workout or even half a day to go on a hike somewhere new! Getting up and moving is such an important part of maintaining my mental health, and ensuring I always fit in some time for that is imperative for me!

2. QV lip balm

I know everyone’s obsessed with their Burt's Bees and their flavoured lip balms, but I love this one so much I literally get mum to mail it to me from Australia when I’m in Nashville! It has SPF 30 and I swear it’s the only one I’ve tried that doesn’t dry my lips out further. Also, it looks like a gloss and I’m always complimented on it!

3. Reusable insulated water bottle

I’m so thirsty, all the time. I’ve now developed anxiety when I don’t have access to water 24 hours a day. And it pains me to throw out a water bottle when I could so easily refill my own! At the moment, I’m using a sky blue one with a carry handle and a lock to prevent leaking. I even bring it on stage!

4. Book

I read every single night before I go to bed. Even sometimes just for five minutes – it’s now so much part of my routine! I’m the biggest Harry Potter fan (who isn’t …) but I love non-fiction too. There’s something comforting to me about turning physical paper pages and lying down in the dark with just a lamp on. It always helps me get to sleep.

5. My always-be-prepared bag

My grandpa would tell us “always be prepared”, so I’m the person who always has everything in my bag. An extra phone charger, mints, band-aids, hair ties, santisier, ear phones, hair brush … you need it, I’ve probably got it! It won’t necessarily be easy to find, but it’s in there somewhere. And I take it with me everywhere!
