Protected Love by Andy Penkow – Video Premiere

27 January 2021 | 12:59 pm | Mallory Arbour

CountryTown is proud to premiere Andy Penkow's new single Protected Love, as well as its accompanying music video.

We got to know alternative country, Americana singer-songwriter, Andy Penkow a little better by the five songs he’s currently listening to in last week’s Front Deck Boom Box. Today, CountryTown is proud to premiere his new single Protected Love, as well as its accompanying music video.

Produced by Rod Motbey at Tracking Dog Studios on the NSW South Coast and mastered in Nashville by Steve Carrao, Protected Love is a modern country song with a country-pop feel.

The song is about coming to the realisation that the outcome of a broken relationship could have been different had you protected the other person more. It’s about love, pain and remorse – but knowing deep down, you truly believe that love conquers all.

Andy says, “I co-wrote this song with fellow artist and creative director Rip-Van Park. We both had similar experiences which made it easy to create a sad country song. It’s about reflecting on a relationship that had turned bad and looking back on what you did wrong. I think everyone can relate to those sentiments.”

Park also directed the music video, which was shot around various Sydney locations.

After releasing his 5-track EP, Chasing the Sun, produced by ARIA Award winner Shane Nicholson, Andy ended 2020 on a high with 10 weeks of charting in the Country Songs Top 40 and national airplay off the back of his Top 20 hit, The Biggest Hearts Can Break. For Andy, 2021 is all about new beginnings and one of those is the single, Protected Love
