Heaven can take a backseat for Morgan Wallen fans, as they ruthlessly booed country-singer-turned-pop-star Taylor Swift when she was mentioned at Wallen’s Indianapolis show.

The situation arose when Wallen proudly announced to his fans that his Indianapolis leg of the One Night At A Time tour would be the most attended back-to-back concert in the history of the Lucas Oil Stadium.

The crowd cheered as Wallen expressed his gratitude, before reigning in a humble attitude behind a joke, grinning: “I’m going to say that until Taylor Swift comes to town.”

Instead of laughing along, the crowd crescendoed into boos and disapproval towards Swift.

Whether it be because of Swift’s shift away from her country roots, support for Wallen, or any number of criticisms that seem to follow the pop star, the crowd was not having it.

Wallen quickly came to Swift’s rescue: “We ain’t got to boo,” he said in response, honing in the crowd to focus on the achievement they had produced with record-breaking attendance. “I appreciate that. I know y’all got my back though.”

As for the Swifties, once the video hit the internet, huge backlash amassed.

“Imma need morgan wallen to keep the words taylor swift out of his mouth [sic],” One fan tweeted, while another speculated, “Did Morgan Wallen just accidentally start a country-pop feud with Taylor Swift, or is this just another case of 'Shake It Off' gone wrong?”

“Morgan all the way! Taylor can go away,” a Wallen fan commented on the video posted to TikTok.

While fans may be divided into their respective camps, Wallen seemingly meant the joke as a way to point out the success of Swift’s recent Eras tour, and both artists are still killing it in their respective genres.
