In true ‘not your typical bride’ fashion, Cass Hopetoun and Blake Dantier have tied the knot, but earlier than you think, with the couple revealing they got married last year without telling anyone!

Hopetoun shared on social media, “SURPRISE. On the weekend we got to celebrate our wedding day with our favourite people on the planet. However, what everyone there didn’t know is that we were also celebrating our nearly 1-year anniversary! On New Year’s Eve 2021, Blake and I officially tied the knot and somehow managed to keep it a secret for an entire year.”

She captioned along with the hashtag #notyourtypicalbride referencing her debut album, Not Your Typical Bride, featuring her hit single, Typical Bride, which reached #1 on the Australian Country Charts.

Hopetoun added, “Get ready for much wedding spam but, for now here’s a pic from both days of me and my HUSBAND.”

In the first of two images, she’s wearing a strapless white dress with black dots, up do and pearl necklace. Dantier wears a pink suit with black belt and bolo tie. They are walking down the red carpeted aisle, surrounded by friends and family (and bubbles).

In the second photo, Hopetoun is seen with her hair half up wearing a strapless green dress and drop earrings alongside her new husband in a light blue shirt and floral white shirt.

In our interview with Hopetoun in 2020, she said, “I see a traditional bride as someone who wears white and follows all the traditions, like a template of how the wedding day should run. Whether that’s having the ceremony in a church, then going back, doing speeches, throwing a bouquet and garter toss, things like that. I just want the ceremony to be about us and then I want to join a party, so that formal stuff wouldn’t be happening."

She continued, “I want it to be uniquely for us. We’re thinking a New Year’s Eve wedding, something that’s like a giant party - a whole lot of fun, a lot of drinking and a cute little ceremony beforehand.”

Hopetoun also revealed that she broke the mould by proposing to Dantier.

The wedded couple will be competing against each other for ‘New Talent of the Year’ at the 2023 Golden Guitar Awards alongside James Johnston, Max Jackson and Taylor Moss. Dantier’s debut record, Dry Season is also up for ‘Traditional Country Album of the Year’.
