After fans of NQ’s Rock’n Country music festival came together to save this year’s event from cancellation, organisers have put together a free event to thank its supporters.

The event takes place this Friday, 18 August, for a free, kid-friendly day packed with music.

“A huge thank-you North Queensland for your support for QCCS NQ's Rock'n Country,” organisers wrote on Facebook on Friday (11 August). “To show just how much this means to us, we have a free event!

“Bring the whole family down to the [Mackay] Showgrounds on Friday the 18th for this kid friendly free event.

“Get a taste of what's to come for the weekend with all of our food vendors, stall holders, and bar on site - we've even taken care of the entertainment.”

The free event, brought to Mackay by NQ’s Rock’n Country, will take place on the QCCS Main Stage with Pete Denahy, Ella & Sienna, Ben Ransom and Luke Geiger providing the live music. The live music kicks off at 5 pm AEST.

“We have received incredible support from ticket holders and local businesses, so we are happy to announce that we are able to PROCEED,” the organisers said in a statement after revealing that this year’s festival will go ahead, albeit in shortened fashion.

This year’s NQ’s Rock’n Country will be shortened to a two-day festival, down from three days, on Saturday, 19 and Sunday, 20 August, in Mackay, Queensland.

“Not the outcome we had planned for 2023,” organisers admitted, “but it is better than the alternative of having to cancel completely as so many people are relying on this festival, including our artists, local businesses, staff, our incredible stall and food vendors and all of our suppliers!”

To the delight of festival organisers and ticketholders alike, Morgan Evans remains the headliner for this year’s NQ’s Rock’n Country Festival as part of his epic homecoming tour of Australia.

Morgan Evans headlines this year’s NQ’s Rock’n Country, which features a stacked line-up, including Kasey Chambers, Kaylee Bell, Shannon Noll, The Wolfe Brothers, Adam Brand and many more.

It’s also hosting the Reboot competition, with DenvahJay Santilli and Findlay Webb named as this year’s finalists.

NQ’s Rock’n Country needed to sell just 1,000 more tickets to keep it financially viable, organisers wrote in a candid post, and while it is going ahead, you can continue to support the festival by buying tickets here.
