More Midland More Midland

Earlier this year, US country music favourites Midland announced their return to Australia for December this year.

The shows have been postponed just days from the tour beginning on Thursday, 8 December. "TEG Live regrets to advise that MIDLAND's THE LAST RESORT: GREETINGS FROM TOUR has been postponed due to insurmountable production and logistics challenges," tour promoters said.

"Much effort has been made to bring the tour to Australia for the scheduled dates, but unfortunately, it is not possible for the band to deliver the show that their fans deserve given the production and logistics challenges."

Midland also responded, "We are extremely disappointed that we can't make it Down Under this December for our tour. We're working closely with TEG Live to reschedule the tour for next year and can't wait to finally make it to your shores and party like never before!"

Ticketholders to the December 2022 tour hold valid tickets for the rescheduled tour dates, which will be announced in the near future.

“When we were writing this album, we were obviously so far removed from any idea of paradise – we needed to create something that was pure escapism. To us, The Last Resort was a place we had to make for ourselves," Midland de-facto leader Mark Wystrach recently told Countrytown

"It's a place to disappear to. In that context, I feel like the album plays more like a soundtrack than anything. We really wanted to set a scene – these are the characters that you'd run into at a place like this, and these are their stories. The Last Resort is a place you go to when you don't have another choice. It's a place where you find perfection in the imperfection.”

Midland burst onto the scene in 2017 with their acclaimed debut album, which featured #1 single Drinkin’ Problem, which earned the band their first Grammy Awards nominations for Best Country Song and Best Country Duo/Group Performance.

Midland were also named New Vocal Group of the Year at the 2018 ACM Awards and nominated for three CMA Awards, including Vocal Group of the Year, Single of the Year for Drinkin’ Problem and New Artist of the Year.

The band’s last visit to Australia was in support of second album, Let It Roll, which was a top-five release on the Australian Country Album ARIA Charts.
