Amber Lawrence Named 2023 Galaxy Of Stars Inductee

Amber Lawrence took her place amongst the stars, with Tamworth Regional Council announcing her as the 2023 Galaxy of Stars inductee at the Tamworth Country Music Festival.

The Galaxy of Stars was launched more than 20 years ago by Tamworth Regional Council to recognise artists who’ve made a significant contribution to Australia’s music industry.

Lawrence’s country music career began in 2004, where she competed in the Road to Tamworth talent competition, becoming runner up. She then became a finalist in the 2005 Toyota Star Maker competition and then released her first EP shortly after.

Celebrating her 20th festival in 2023, Lawrence has been nominated for two-ARIA awards across her career, and has been awarded six Golden Guitars, including ‘Female Artist of the Year’ this year.

Lawrence said, “What an honour to be included in the Galaxy of Stars, it’s my 20th festival so what a way to celebrate!”

Toyota Country Music Festival Manager, Barry Harley added, “Amber is credited as being one of the most diligent and hard-working artists in the industry and I congratulate her on being named the 2023 Galaxy of Stars inductee. This recognition is a testament to the person and artist that she is and the impact she continues to make on Australia’s country music scene.”

Lawrence was named the CMC ‘Female Artist of the Year’ in 2015 and 2016 and in 2018 received five CMC Award nominations. She’s released three children’s albums and seven studio albums, with her ARIA Number 1 Country Album Living for the Highlights released in 2022, receiving a ‘Best Country Album’ nomination at the 2022 ARIA Awards as well as nominations for ‘Toyota Album of the Year’ and ‘Contemporary Country Album of the Year’ at the 2023 Golden Guitar Awards.

Lawrence follows in the footsteps of some country music greats including the iconic Slim Dusty, who was the first ever Galaxy of Stars inductee in the year 2000. Since then, more than 30 other artists and groups have been inducted including Troy Cassar-Daley, Lee Kernaghan, Beccy Cole, Gina Jeffreys, Kasey Chambers and John Williamson.
