Written by LANCO frontman Brandon Lancaster with songwriters Shane McAnally and Jeremy Spillman, Near Mrs. is a roots-rock anthem of the trial, error, and heartbreak on the winding road to everlasting love. It’s been stuck in our heads for a week now – so it deserves to be crowned as our Song of the Day!
Near Mrs. premiered during a live stream event to celebrate the 3rd anniversary of the release of their 2018 debut album, Hallelujah Nights. The album featured their hit singles Love Live Tonight, Greatest Love Story and Born To Love You.
The music video, directed by Devon Lancaster, shares personal footage of the band’s wives, which is intertwined with a energetic live performance.
Brandon says, “We wanted to heighten the last line of the chorus, ‘I would have missed out on you,’ and show off exactly who that person is to us. Looking back on everything from late-night hangs, weddings, and babies … we have so much to be grateful for and this video represents that. This is something really special for our close-knit family to have years to come.”
Comprised of vocalist Brandon, guitarist Eric Steedly, bassist Chandler Baldwin, keyboardist Jared Hampton, and drummer Tripp Howell, American country band, LANCO (short for Lancaster and Company) was founded in 2015. They released their debut four-song EP, titled Extended Play the following year, ahead of the chart topping Hallelujah Nights, making them the first country group to earn a No. 1 debut in a decade.
In 2019, LANCO won the ACM Award for ‘New Vocal Group of the Year’, which followed multiple nominations from CMT, CMA, ACM, AMA and iHeartAwards, while Brandon became the first member of a group to win NSAI’s 2019 ‘Songwriter/Artist of the Year’.
