12 February 2021 | 2:43 pm | Mallory Arbour

Our song of the Day is Mississippi Mud by newcomer, Will Dempsey, which pays tribute to his small-town Louisiana roots, while also staying true to himself.

Our song of the Day is the country-rock anthem Mississippi Mud by newcomer, Will Dempsey. In Mississippi Mud, Will pays tribute to his small-town Louisiana roots, while also staying true to himself.

Written by Will, the track was inspired by his recent trip to Nashville.

Will says, “It’s about someone following their dreams, but still staying true to who they are and where they come from. I feel like so many people try and change themselves into something that they aren’t in order to fit in somewhere or make it in a certain industry. And this song is basically about someone who isn’t willing to do that. It’s about being yourself and not apologising for it.”

Will also self-directed the music video, which was filmed on the banks of the Mississippi River near his hometown in South Louisiana.
