Lil Nas X is now best-selling author with his children's book, C Is For Country

Old Town Road American rapper, Lil Nas X is officially a best-selling author thanks to his 40-page children’s book, C Is For Country. Released earlier this month , the alphabet picture book is intended for readers aged 3 to 7 years old and is illustrated by Theodore Taylor III. C Is For Country debuted at No. 8 on the New York Times’ best-sellers list.

Lil Nas X shared via Twitter, “We hit New York times best seller list!!! I love y’all so f*ckin much."

The book follows a young boy, dressed in a pink rhinestone cowboy outfit, and his pony, Panini as they experience wide-open pastures, farm animals, guitar music, cowboy hats, and all things country on a journey from sunup to sundown.

"A is for adventure. Every day is a brand new start. B is for boots — whether they're big or small, short or tall. C is for country," the story goes, with some surprises such as "F is for fringe, S is for sway and X is for extra".

Lil Nas X says, “C Is For Country goes out to every amazing kid out there who sang along to Old Town Road on repeat and helped change my life forever. I hope this book inspires them and makes learning the alphabet a thousand times more fun.”

He has dedicated the book, his first, to his young nieces and nephews.

Lil Nas X is best known for his genre-crossing single, Old Town Road. Widely labelled as ‘country rap’, the song holds the record for the longest running #1 in history. Several remixes of the song were later released, the most popular of which featured Achy Breaky Heart singer, Billy Ray Cyrus, which earned them the win for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards.

Both the original and remix were included on Lil Nas X’s first EP, 7 (2019).

His second single off the EP was called Panini, which peaked at number 5 on the Hot 100. Although not about the pony in the story, the song was named after the cabbit – a fictional hybrid between a cat and a rabbit often popular in Japanese anime and manga – from the animated television series, Chowder.

Lil Nas X has been teasing the release of his debut album since mid-2020, due for release later this year.
