Kane Brown launches new label 1021 Entertainment

Kane Brown has a record label, 1021 Entertainment, in a joint venture with Sony Music Nashville.

Brown says, “I want to give people chances to succeed. With 1021 Entertainment, I feel like we have a platform and team that can mentor and build up talent in country music. With my own label, I want to use it as an opportunity to shape and promote artists that may not have gotten a chance otherwise.”

Nashville-based trio, Restless Road is the first talent to be signed to the new label. Their first release is the single Took One Look At Her Momma, which the trio was inspired to pen the track following advice from member Garret Nichols’ father that women are similar to their mothers.

Brown has a history of developing and supporting new talent behind the scenes.

He added Restless Road as his opening act on his Worldwide Beautiful tour and appeared in the group’s cover of the John Denver classic, Take Me Home, which has racked up 4.7 million Spotify plays. Brown first met members Zach Beeken and Colton Pack in 2013 while auditioning for Season 3 of The X Factor.  

Brown says, “I don’t really want to sign anybody else until we break Restless Road, because I know how it is for artists that get signed to a label and kind of get stuck on a shelf. I just want to put all my focus behind them, and then once we break them, go for the next one.”

Sony Nashville chairman-CEO, Randy Goodman said in a statement, “Restless Road may be the first, but I know this is only the beginning of what will be a long and fruitful relationship. The deeper our business ties with our artists, the stronger our relationship and trust. This is an exciting new step indeed.”

Brown’s most recent release is the duet Famous Friends with Chris Young that came out last month. His last album was the 2018 platinum-certified Experiment, which debuted at number one on the Billboard chart and was nominated for an American Music Award for Favourite Country Album. The album featured the number one singles, Lose It, Good As You and Homesick.
