ACM’s “Artist of the Decade” country artist, Jason Aldean has released an Amazon Original cover of the Bryan Adams’ 1983 classic Heaven, and it’s available exclusively on Amazon Music.
Aldean said, “This is one of those songs that stop you dead in your tracks when it’s on. After I did a CMT Crossroads with Bryan Adams awhile back, the fans and really my whole team have asked me when I’m going to record it, so it’s cool to finally be releasing it with a little bit of my own spin.”
CMT Crossroads is an American television program broadcast on CMT that pairs country music artists with musicians from other music genres. In 2009, when the episode first aired, as well as Heaven, the duo performed Adams’ Summer of ’69 and Run To You as well as Aldean’s Johnny Cash, She’s Country and Hicktown.
The program has also seen joint performances from Keith Urban and John Mayer, Katy Perry and Kacey Musgraves, Luke Bryan and the Doobie Brothers, Carrie Underwood and Steven Tyler from Aerosmith, Maren Morris and Alicia Keys, as well as Twinkle Twinkle by Nathanial Rateliff and Margo Price, which is nominated for ‘Performance of the Year’ at the 2021 CMT Music Awards, to name a few.
Written by Adams and Jim Vallance, the song first appeared on the A Night in Heaven soundtrack and was later included on Adams’ album Reckless in 1983. It provided Adams with his first number one single and third top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. In Australia, it peaked at number 12.
