Southbound may soon be a group of four again. Although the news hasn’t been announced, a source has told us that the all-female country-rock super-band are looking at adding a fourth member, potentially a drummer, to join them before their gig at Groundwater Country Music Festival in November.

Formed in 2020 by established solo artists Rachael Fahim and Missy Lancaster, along with exciting newcomers bassist Sarah Bernardo and lead guitarist Andrea Krakosvka, Southbound achieved success with all four of their singles, Get Drunk On Me, Drink, Find Our Way featuring Shannon Noll and their latest, This Is Us, reaching the top 10 and garnering over 5 million streams so far.

Southbound first announced Fahim’s departure via social media on August 20:

They wrote, “Rachael has parted ways with Southbound and will now focus on her solo career. As much as we will miss having her hilarious and fierce talent at every rehearsal, studio session and show, we love Rach and look forward to seeing her do amazing things.”

Following the announcement, Fahim shared a photo of her and Keith Urban in the studio.

She captioned, “I’ve been working on some sizzlinnn’ fresh Rach solo stuff over the past couple of months, the studio is literally my second home but thank goodness for Zoom right now! I’ve parted ways with SB, but I wish the girls all the best and I’m so excited for this next season. Stay tuned lovers and friends.”

The now three-piece are gearing up to release their uplifting and inspiring next single, Composure.

Bernardo says, “Originally we wanted to write a ‘yea the girls’ kinda song, which made sense being in an all-female band. We rely on each other constantly for support in all aspects of our life. We laugh together, cry together and support each other daily and we wanted to extend that love to our fans. But so much has changed since we wrote this song in January. From extended lockdowns in many parts of Australia, to us having more shows cancelled and changes in our band. But somehow, we are managing to keep our Composure and we are excited about the future.”

With their debut album planned for release in 2022, it’s going to be interesting if it will feature songs with Fahim, as a three-piece, and others tracks with this mystery fourth member. Time will tell …

Composure is out tomorrow, September 10.
