I Hope It Snows by Mitchell Tenpenny and Meghan Patrick – Song of the Day

It’s the most wonderful time of the year – and I don’t mean Christmas, I mean that magical month where we can blast holiday music and no one can judge us for it! Because, let’s face it, who doesn’t love Christmas music all year round?! This December, we are going to be adding our Songs of the Day to our very special Countrytown Christmas Playlist, complete with re-imagined country-style holiday classics as well as what are sure to be new festive favourites!

Our festive Song of the Day is the holiday duet I Hope It Snows by Mitchell Tenpenny and his fiancée, singer-songwriter Meghan Patrick. The song comes off the tracklist of Tenpenny’s 2021 Christmas album, Naughty List.

The couple wrote I Hope It Snows together, along with Jeff Cibulka, about spending Christmas ‘up north’ with Patrick’s family in her hometown in Canada, and hoping Tenpenny gets to experience a white Christmas there. In the opening scene, Patrick is looking through a photo album filled with Christmas memories. The photographs in the scrapbook are images from Tenpenny and Patrick’s childhood.

The I Hope It Snows video was shot at a cabin in Nashville, Tennessee by director Jay Curtis Miller. This is the second music video the couple has filmed together following Neon Christmas released in 2020.

Tenpenny's holiday project, Naughty List, came out in late October. The album includes some original songs, including I Hope It Snows and Don’t Hang The Mistletoe, as well as his take on classic songs, including Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, Jingle Bell Rock, Joy to the World and O Holy Night.
