With only 4 weeks to go, the countdown is on until Groundwater Country Music Festival 2021! With its unique combination of country music charm, ocean calm and tropical palms, Groundwater promises to deliver a memorable weekend of sun, sand, surf, sophistication and incredible sounds.
Scheduled from Friday, November 12 to Sunday, November 14, Groundwater has today announced, due to COVID-19 restrictions and interstate travel, the three-day festival has been forced to make changes to the line-up.
They shared the news via social media, “We had hoped that by this time we’d be welcoming our entire Groundwater family from across Australia. Unfortunately, this isn’t the case and so we’ve made some changes to the line-up to keep the party going.”
Joining the exceptional line-up are a collection of talented musicians including Troy Cassar-Daley, Graeme Connors, Caitlyn Shadbolt, the Hillbilly Goats, Jade Holland, Taylor Moss, and many more, adding to The Wolfe Brothers, Sara Storer and Casey Barnes who have already been announced.
Festival director, Mark Duckworth, is delighted to be one step closer to bringing Groundwater back to Broadbeach despite the current COVID climate.
He says, “We’ve been unwavering in our persistence to ensure Groundwater returns to the Gold Coast this year. It will be a great end to the year to see Australia’s outstanding country talent back on stage and joining us for this incredible event!”
The full program is NOW LIVE, and you can view the new line-up, full schedule, and festival map by downloading the official Groundwater CMF mobile app, or through the website at https://groundwatercmf.com/lineup/
Other artists on the bill include Adam Brand, Brad Butcher, Brook Chivell, Hinterland, Lily Grace, Melanie Dyer, Melody Moko, Natalie Pearson, Round Mountain Girls, SaltbushSix, Arlington, Sammy White, Matt Ward and more!
Additionally, Surf Parade has been re-imagined as the newly titled stage, The Back Road Theatre, providing theatre-style seating for patrons to sit and enjoy their favourite country stars. It’s just one of many new festival enhancements being provided this year. Whilst the Kurrawa Park Stage has been re-imagined in 2021 to allow as many festival attendees to experience our stellar line-up of free country music in a COVID safe manner, which has meant for this year the big top won’t be returning.
Groundwater will add even more action to the festival with the addition of a Cornhole Arena, a place where attendees can enjoy a social game or two with their friends or verse other attendees. Those wanting to channel their inner cowboy can try their hand at the all-new Hot Tomato Bucking Bull, putting their skills on display to see how long they can stay on.
A host of sensational Broadbeach venues will also be getting into the Groundwater spirit with country performances taking place throughout the festival, including The Lucky Squire, The Envy Hotel, The Broadbeach, and Fat Freddy’s Beach Bar and Diner, who will also be giving attendees a chance to perform during their Country Karaoke. With such a diverse range of options, festival-goers will always be able to find a venue to match their vibe.
Groundwater is one of the few music festivals to be held in a year marred by festival cancellations due to the global pandemic. Following the cancellation of the 2020 event due to ongoing pandemic concerns, the 2019 event was a major success with 73,000 people attending, an increase of 15% from the previous year and injecting approximately $8.46million into the local economy.
Established in 2013 as the Broadbeach Country Music Festival, the festival was rebranded as Groundwater Country Music Festival in 2018. Groundwater is a common denominator in bringing people together. It reflects Australia’s unique culture, drawing from both the Aboriginal people’s close spiritual connection with the groundwater, as well as the farming community’s reliance on groundwater for survival. Groundwater reflects the innate culture of the Australian people who use the rivers, lakes, streams, and oceans as a central part of life.
Don’t forget entries for the Groundwater’s KIX-Start ends at 5pm AEST on Sunday, October 17, 2021.
