Front Deck Boom Box: Alice Benfer

We caught up with award-winning country singer-songwriter Alice Benfer to find out what songs he’s listening to for this week’s Front Deck Boom Box.

Alice Benfer is an award-winning country singer-songwriter from Gympie, Queensland, who regularly performs at various festivals, showcases, RSL Clubs, bowling clubs, hotels, music clubs, private functions and charity events. The 2014 CMAA Academy Of Country Music (senior course) graduate has released a four track EP, Cowgirl Rockin, as well as new album, What Can I Say.

I Wonder What You’re Doin’ is her latest single. The light-hearted, upbeat song was written by gifted guitarist, songwriter and producer, Sam Hawksley. It’s a relationship song about reflecting on past actions and emotions concerning a previous love interest, all with a touch of humour.

Taylor Moss – Take It From Me

Take It From Me was released as a single in 2019 by Sunshine Coast artist, Taylor Moss. This track draws you in with the edgy guitar and Taylor’s clear, powerful vocals. The lyrics show maturity beyond her years. The artist reflects on past actions, life experiences and a love interest. There’s a lot of light and shade throughout the song.

Brendan Smoother – Big Black Car

Big Black Car, a melodic, eerie tune from Brendan Smoother’s album In The Meantime. This track is cleverly written about a neighbourhood busybody, a serious song with hints of playful lyrics. It has you hooked from the start with the guitar picking and it showcases Brendan’s raspy voice. The musical arrangement is fantastic, it sets the mood for great storytelling.

Caitlyn Shadbolt – Bones

Bones, a track from Caitlyn Shadbolt’s latest album, Stages. This is a fun light-hearted song about following your dreams and intuition. A track that many young adults would relate to, the muted guitar and percussion give a catchy beat. Bones showcases Caitlyn’s crisp, clear vocals. A song you can sing and dance to, it will get stuck in your head.

Hayley Jensen – Karma

Karma, the single from Hayley Jensen, captures your attention right from the get-go with the drum beat and Hayley’s earthy vocals. A well written song with attitude that builds momentum, featuring plenty of highs and lows. Karma is a relationship song that’s easy to relate to, Hayley’s vocals shine through with this awesome solid musical arrangement.

Bella Mackenzie – Ain’t For You

Ain’t For You is a single from up coming artist, Bella Mackenzie. It draws you in with a catchy banjo lick in the intro followed by the maturity of Bella’s vocals. A track with a little bit of feistiness about a past love interest, one that would resonate with young adults. The lyrics show maturity with smooth, earthy vocals.
