Florida Georgia Line's Brian Kelley strikes solo music deal and teases new song

Brian Kelley, one half of superstar duo Florida Georgia Line, has formed Nashville South Records, a partnership with Warner Music Nashville, as an outlet for his solo music endeavours.

Kelley says, "I couldn't be more grateful for everyone who has helped me on my journey to get here. I'm humbled to team up with Warner Music Nashville to take the music I've been dreamin’ and schemin’ up to the next level. This is just the beginning of a whole new adventure. My vision for what's next is a vibe and state of mind – get ready to ride the wave with ya Beach Cowboy, y'all!"

Warner Music Nashville EVP A&R Cris Lacy adds, "We are honoured that Brian Kelley chose WMN as home to his solo endeavours. I’ve been an FGL believer from day one, and BK’s clear vision for himself and his upcoming project is a testament to his heart, soul, and talent. His new music is the perfect antidote to 2020, and what an incredible way to start 2021!"

The 35-year-old shared a video teaser on his Instagram as well as on his newly-launched website.

At the start of the year, Kelley and band mate, Tyler Hubbard announced their intentions to explore solo projects, stressing that the hiatus didn’t mean they were breaking up. Kelley stated he would release a full solo album later this year, and Hubbard released the collaboration singles Undivided with Tim McGraw and, more recently, My Way with breakout TikTok star, Lathan Warlick.

In a statement, Hubbard said, “We’re gonna obviously be on tour and we’re going to be singing all of the hits you guys love and trying to create more. But in the meantime, it’s a beautiful time to be in a place to be able to venture out and to have a voice of our own and have individuality a little bit.”

Kelley has also been working on bringing his country musical, and now extended movie version, to life. May We All was first announced in October 2019 as a musical but with the COVID-19 pandemic pushing its stage debut further back, the producers decided to move up a film adaptation.

Florida Georgia Line dropped their fifth studio album, Life Rolls On in February. It debuted at no. 3 on Billboard’s Top Country Album chart, and featured the hit singles I Love My Country and Long Live. In total, the GRAMMY-nominated duo have racked up 17 number on singles, more than 13.2 billion global streams, and sold more than 40 million tracks and 4.7 million albums worldwide. The duo also recently released a joint single with singer-songwriter and reality television personality, Chase Rice called Drinkin’ Beer. Talkin’ God. Amen.
