Have you reached late July and wondered what the biggest country music songs of 2023 have been so far? Passing the mid-year point of the year, Countrytown has rounded up the most played songs on Australian country music radio, making a top 50 list from all the Radio Monitor statistics.
According to a new report published by Luminate, Australia has become the third-largest market for country music, only behind the most significant markets: the US and Canada. If you’ve been paying attention to Australia’s ARIA Albums Chart or the Singles Chart lately, you can quickly see that Luminate’s report and the chart we’re about to show readers is no surprise.
Holding out the #1 position for 2023 so far is Morgan Wallen’s Last Night, which won’t surprise too many people, given its mainstream-dominating performance this year, but it’s great to see The Wolfe Brothers and James Johnston holding firm for Australian music at #2 and #3. Jelly Roll has also put in a big performance with Son of a Sinner coming in at #4.
The biggest country songs of 2023 (so far) are diverse. There’s a strong showing of Australian talent alongside the most successful country music artists from the US, artists of different genders and race represented, but most of all, a passion for music. Where else can you find Loren Ryan, The Wolfe Brothers, Kaylee Bell, Bailey Zimmerman and Lee Kernaghan, Mitch Tambo & Isaiah Firebrace in a list alongside the likes of Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood?
